Billy Bay Photo is LIVE!

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

Hi all,

Some of you have got here from my other site at William Bay Photographic Arts where I focus more on weddings, sexy portraiture, and fine art photography. I’d like to welcome you as the first people to see the site and hopefully you’ll come back often as it grows and expands with new photography each and every month.

This site will focus more on families, babies, high school seniors and lifestyle types of photography. You know, all those things that wouldn’t fit on my other site due to nudity reasons.

I will be bringing the same style, creativity and personality to these new areas I previously have not explored. So I hope you enjoy the ride with me on this new venture. If you are interested in doing a session, let me know. The holidays are coming up and things are getting busy.

New T-Shirt and New Cause

Thursday, October 8th, 2009

tshirtAs many of you know, I was a volunteer in Thailand after the Indian Ocean Tsunami in 2004, and was there for a year helping build houses amongst other things.

And when I heard about the earthquake off Samoa and the impending tsunami that was likely coming, I could only think of the destruction I saw while in Thailand and knew what was in store for the Samoans.

In light of the damage that has happened to Samoa and American Samoa, I have decided to offer a $4 discount on all T-Shirts and apparel at my CafePress store through November 1st.

And what’s more, 100% of the profit will go to the Red Cross in Samoa in an effort to rebuild.

The prices are already adjusted, so please feel free to go and look around here: http://cafepress.com/williambay

There you will see the newest photo in the collection, pictured here, This was taken in White Sands National Monument, in New Mexico last winter. It is of a Lone Yucca plant in the dunes of White Sands with the Sacramento Mountains forming a dark sliver of a line to the East.

I hope you enjoy the shirts, and enjoy the contribution you make to helping rebuild a community half-way around the world.

Epic Saturday

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009

My dear friend Marne and I had a great time this past Saturday out in the mountain area of San Diego. She was feeling the itch to get away from the city for a bit, and I having spent the last 4 1/2 years where there are no mountains, I was up for it too. We started out with a great hike along the Pacific Crest Trail up near Mt Laguna. The views down to the desert from 6,000 feet are captivating.

Afterwards, we were considering another hike, but I was starting to get a couple blisters. I had been wanting to go back out to Valley of the Moon for years since my first visit, and we were close enough, so we went out. The road in to the Valley is a bit sketchy (sketchy = fun if you have an X-Terra and like to let it loose), at one point Steve McQueen, my X-Terra, was up on three wheels about to do a frontwards wheelie coming down the hill into the Valley.

We found an excellent group of boulders to scramble up, and hung out in the sun, soaking it in for a while. It was great to be outdoors, and one with the elements. On the way back Marne used her camera to catch a video clip of the road conditions, as well as me singing along with some Pearl Jam (can you tell who’s voice is whose?).

And here are a few pictures:

And we finished the Epic day with an Epic beer!

Mike and Erin’s Wedding on YouTube

Thursday, October 1st, 2009

I’m starting to love YouTube! I know… I’m just now catching up with the 21st century. Maybe I’ll even get one of those Cellular phones everyone is talking about now.
Here’s a slideshow of a recent wedding with Mike and Erin I just uploaded to YouTube. If you’re a regular reader you may remember them as the couple with the tandem surfers in one of their photos at their beach wedding.

This is the kind of slideshow that all my clients receive. (but much higher quality, and on DVD).

Enjoy, and let me know what you think.
