You are right, it's very uncommon for Americans to travel without abandon. It would be nice if more people did. I think people would be liberated from the "rule by fear" the government uses, as well as financial fear (which is very relevant as I write this). What is found through traveling, is a sense of calm and comfort in a "great big scary world." I'm not aware of the New Thought that you refer to, but, you are right about Faith. Whether it be God that you pray to (and I mean that in the generic sense), or as George Carlin used to pray to Joe Pesci, I think the idea is to have faith. Not only in the greater power, but also in humanity, and your fellow man. I guess, without faith, there is just fear. To answer your last question, I turned out just fine. Thank you for your comment.
